WWB Mixer at Kensington Paper

$10 donation to defray costs of the WWB

We stepped out of the cold of winter into the warm atmosphere of the
Working Women of Bronxville.

Jamie Abruzzo, Liliana Dearth & Cynthia Houx facilitated the mixer.
They organized a fun way for us to get to know one another and expand
our networks.  They had us group ourselves first along our current (former
or desired) career paths (e.g., Law; Finance; Medicine; Marketing,
Advertising, & Media; or Own Business and other Unique Careers) and
then by areas of personal interest (e.g., Women in Politics; Becoming an
Author; Parenting under Stress; Improving the Value of Your Home; or
Collecting Antiques).  Bring your business cards - you are sure to get to
know a number of very interesting and dynamic women.

The party was generously hosted by Kensington Paper owners
Ann
Marie Pitkin and Paisley Kelling
. They opened their store for us to
enjoy this networking event and provided marvelous hors d’oeuvres
catered by
Missy Fink Inc. and delightful wines from Bronxville’s
Station Plaza Wine & Spirits
.

The store rung in the new year after the wonderful holiday season and
there were many new and unique items for our special Valentines.

Anne Marie & Paisely also shared some thoughts about their partnership,
how important the women's network is within their own retail niche, how
special it is to have a thriving business so near to their children and the
luxury of being able to rely on each other when the school rings to say a
child is sick or forgot his or her lunch!  They enjoyed sharing their little bit
of Bronxville with the group.

About the Owners:

Ann Marie was a Compliance Officer at Credit Suisse First Boston until
September 1998.   She took a 5 year hiatus to move from London to New
York (Pelham) and spend time with her children.  Paisley was a house
ware and shoe buyer (VP) for Bergdorf Goodman until 1998, when she
also took time off to be with her children.  One spring morning as they
were chatting, the notion of the store for sale in Bronxville came up and
the partnership began.  Kelling/Pitkin have owned Kensington Paper
since November 2002.

Ann Marie and Paisley love owning Kensington Paper.  They have about
ten staff members in all and learn something new every day.  They love
their Bronxville location and all of their customers and work hard to
provide diligent customer service and to anticipate their every need (and
whim).

Kensington Paper specializes in engraved stationary, announcements
and invitations but the owners and staff also have fun with gifts for all
ages. Special orders are the core of their business.
