As part of Women’s History month in March, fourth graders at the
Bronxville Elementary School studied women of history, ranging from
Queen Elizabeth to Rosa Parks, and learned that American women finally
won the right vote in 1920.  On March 30th, the fourth graders also heard
first-hand from a panel organized by the Working Women of Bronxville
about the careers of women in medicine, the arts, broadcasting and
investment banking.

Lori Beecher, TV Producer for NBC News, Elizabeth Lim-Dutton,
concert violinist,
Lisa Diaz, who works on Wall Street at Goldman Sachs,
and
Dr. Kate Huncke, anesthesiologist at NYU, discussed their careers
in the High School Auditorium.  Beecher, Lim-Dutton, Diaz and Huncke
each gave 10 minutes of formal remarks about what they do daily in terms
that resonated with fourth graders and explored the important role that
school played in their professional development.  The children were
actively engaged and asked numerous questions.  All four of the WWB
panelists are mothers of children in the Bronxville School, with three of
them having children in the fourth grade.  The WWB hopes to make this
panel an annual event and is looking to create a panel of four WWBers
representing a variety of careers for next year.
